Mt. Makiling Traverse (Maktrav) Part 2 - The Ultimate Return Climb

After 1 years since I climb Mt. Makiling (a.k.a. My Ultimate Comeback Climb). I'm back, but now with more challenging trail.

Mt. Makiling Traverse, also known as "Maktrav", is a 1090+ MASL climb, with rope segments and breathtaking assault with amaizing view. Entry point at Santo Tomas, Batangas and exit point at UPLB, Los Banos, Laguna.

Some changes on this climb is required na ang guide at sasamahan na hanggang Agila Base instead na hanggang Trail Junction. Also hindi papayagan umakyat ng earlier than 6am.
.
We set this climb last March 15, 2015. For the first time, ako mismo ang nag-set ng climb na ito. 2:30am ang naging meet up sa JAC Liner Bus Terminal sa Buendia and to avoid conficts sa time, mas maaga ang departure namin ngayon - 3am, compare sa last year na 4am. Amazingly, we arrived at San. Felix One Hour Earlier. From the Jump off, we wait for 1 hour before we rode a tricycle going to Sitio Jordan Ecopark for Registration and at exactly 6am, we start trek.

Same plan as last year, we took rest sa Station 3 and after that tumuloy na kami sa Trail Junction. Then we continued trekking until we reached the mossy forest but this time, may mga limatik na. FORTUNATELY wala naman sa amin ang kinagat, not even on other groups na nakasama namin. Then we continue to trek until we reached the most challenging Melkas Ridge.

The difference here, it's even more challenging than before. Although there's still rope but it is not easy as before.

After this veeeery challenging trail, we reached Peak 3. From there, we continued trekking. After One hour, nakarating na din ng Summit.

After that, we descent to Los Baños, Laguna.

It is still the "dramatic descent and malambot ang lupa" trail, so take extra caution pababa. At 3pm, we reached the Agila Base and it's time to say goodbye sa mga guides na nakasama namin. After a short rest, we continued trekking until we reached the Nursery. To avoid another delays at para makauwi ng maaga, nag-habal habal na kami until we reached the UPLB. Unfortunately on that time, walang tubig. But, the officers at the UPLB Entry gate suggests na pumunta ng Pansol for swimming. So it's time for SIDETRIP to Pansol.

From UPLB, we rode a Jeep going to Sun City in Pansol. we stayed until 9:30pm and we went home to Manila at 10pm.

It's like Makiling Part 1 all over again. Although there's some changes, from the trail itself to rules and regulations of the climb. Now, pinag-iisipan ko pa kung babalik pa ako sa Mt. Makiling because of stunning view at malapit sya sa Manila. This is the another Ultimate Climb I will never forget.
